Storm of the Century: Residents in several West Virginia Counties remain in perilous conditions as a state of emergency continues after floods ravaged the area in June. Massive rainfall on June 23 killed 24 people along with endangering countless lives, destroying homes and businesses, and damaging vital infrastructure. In the initial days of the floods, 44 of West Virginia’s 55 counties were under a state of emergency according to a Reuters report.

A Compassionate Response: REALTOR® Associations and brokerages around the country have begun relief efforts to raise money and help the residents of West Virginia rebuild their lives. The West Virginia Association of REALTORS® is a fellow Region 3 State Association that stands with us. We feel especially obligated to reach out and help our neighbors in need.

Our Pledge: The District of Columbia Association of REALTORS® pledges to donate a matching sum for every dollar our members contribute up to $2,500 to the West Virginia Flood Relief Fund. With a 2,700 membership, we believe we’ll make our goal. Please consider giving as much as you can to aid the people of West Virginia.
