Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy, we provide this notice explaining our information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available on our homepage.
DEFINITIONS
“Content” shall mean all information or images contained on our site(s), including but not limited to trademarks, copyrights, advertisements, data, text, graphics, photos, software and video. “Financial information” shall mean a user’s Social Security number, credit card information or the number of any account held by the user in any financial institution. “General information” is all information related to users other than “financial information,” whether provided by the user on the site or otherwise obtained by DCAR. “Site” shall mean the Internet sites located at the URL address dcrealtors.org. “User” shall mean any person or entity that accesses or uses the site in any manner. “DCAR” shall mean the District of Columbia Association of REALTORS®, Inc., its employees, officers, directors and all other persons or entities affiliated with DCAR responsible for creating, maintaining and publishing this site.
USE OF INFORMATION
We never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.
While sets of labels containing physical mailing address information may be purchased from DCAR by outside parties, e-mail addresses are never sold to or used by anyone other than DCAR.
We use information about our users, members and non-members, for administrative, operational and financial purposes. Databases are maintained to store information regarding: 1) membership records; 2) course registration, attendance and completion; 3) product purchases and other financial or general information.
STRICT PRIVACY OF E-MAIL ADDRESSES
We use return e-mail addresses to answer the e-mail we receive, contact someone regarding a problem with a registration, update a member’s record, send an automatic registration/purchase confirmation or to send event reminders. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties. E-mail addresses are not sold or provided to third party vendors, direct mail companies, e-mail list services, etc.
OUR COMMITMENT TO DATA SECURITY
To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic encryption and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect electronically.

COOKIES
Cookies are small text files that may be placed on a user’s computer’s hard drive. Essentially, cookies are identification cards for the DCAR computers or servers that placed them there. Cookies are only read by the server that placed them there and are unable to execute any code or virus. DCAR may use cookies on members’ computers to identify that user as a member when that user accesses the site in the future. Cookies may also be used to provide personalized service to users of this site. However, we do not use cookies to collect any personally-identifiable information.
FINANCIAL INFORMATION
DCAR will not release a user’s financial information to anyone outside DCAR without first obtaining the user’s consent, except for information that we are legally required to gather and/or report to government agencies. General information may be released to third parties without the user’s consent. General information may also be distributed publicly in various articles and reports.
MEMBER RECORDS
Some general information gathered on the site related to upgrading a member record is used to maintain records of our members.
UPDATING INFORMATION
DCAR members may correct, update or delete* financial or general information previously provided to the site or otherwise maintained in DCAR databases by doing one of the following:

*Records that DCAR are required by law to maintain may be corrected or updated by members, but may not be deleted.
UNSUBSCRIBING TO COMMUNICATIONS
Some information provided to the DCAR site may be used to identify persons to whom various communications may be sent by DCAR or third parties. In the event a user prefers not to receive future electronic, print or fax communications from DCAR he/she may do so by contacting us at (202) 626-0099 or e-mailing bfrantz@dcrealtors.org and entering “Unsubscribe” in the body of the message.
Payment Policies
INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
If weather conditions force the postponement of a scheduled event, and you are unable to attend the event at the rescheduled time, DCAR will gladly refund your registration fee.
CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
Cancellation requests for event registration must be received by DCAR in writing at least two (2) business days prior to the start of the program. “No shows” will forfeit their registration fee. In order to cancel your registration for an event and receive a refund, send an email to contact@dcrealtors.org.
Investments in RPAC are non-refundable.
