April 24, 2026 – The District of Columbia Association of REALTORS® endorses nine candidates for DC Council in the 2026 Primary Election. Each of the candidates is a champion and advocate of homeownership and is actively working to provide better opportunities for small businesses. The candidates are committed to tackling issues vital to REALTORS® during their time in office. Here’s what each candidate has achieved:
Kenyan McDuffie for Mayor
Kenyan McDuffie brings more than a decade of leadership on the DC Council, where he has consistently worked to grow the District’s economy while advancing racial and economic equity. His track record reflects a thoughtful approach to making DC more affordable by expanding housing opportunities, supporting small businesses, and creating pathways for entrepreneurship across our communities.
Throughout his time on the Council, McDuffie has been a reliable partner to the DC Association of REALTORS®, supporting policies that promote a balanced, thriving housing market. He understands what it takes to increase housing supply while protecting the long-term health of our local economy.

Phil Mendelson for Chairman of the Council
Phil Mendelson brings the stability and experience the District needs at a time of uncertainty. Over his 14 years as Council Chairman, he has led with a steady hand, consistently strengthening the Council as an institution while thoughtfully balancing the diverse priorities of the city.
His leadership has moved more housing into productive use, increased funding for housing and essential services, and improved oversight of regulatory agencies. This is work that directly impacts the day-to-day lives of District residents.
Mendelson has also been a consistent and trusted partner to the DC Association of REALTORS®, engaging with members on key issues. Looking ahead, he remains committed to maintaining balanced tax policies, supporting housing production, and preserving opportunities for homeownership across DC.
Lisa Raymond for Councilmember, At-Large
Lisa Raymond stands out for her depth of experience across District government. From serving as President of the DC State Board of Education to advising the DC Council and serving as Chief of Staff to Attorney General Karl Racine, she brings a well-rounded perspective on how policy impacts residents and communities.
She is focused on strengthening the District’s tax base, supporting small businesses, increasing affordable housing, and expanding access to childcare — priorities that help create more stable and thriving neighborhoods.
She is also committed to working collaboratively to support housing policies that preserve existing housing while creating more opportunities for homeownership. Her approach reflects a thoughtful balance between growth, stability, and long-term opportunity for District residents.
Doni Crawford for Councilmember, At-Large
Doni Crawford has quickly made her mark as a thoughtful and effective leader, bringing both policy expertise and a collaborative approach to the DC Council. With a strong background in economic development, she understands how housing, business growth, and community stability are deeply connected.
She has shown a clear commitment to expanding access to homeownership and creating more opportunities for residents across the District. She is also known for her ability to listen, engage, and build relationships — qualities that help move meaningful solutions forward.
Looking ahead, Crawford is focused on increasing housing options at every level, improving programs like Inclusionary Zoning, and making it easier for entrepreneurs to start and grow businesses in DC.
Jackie Reyes Yanes for Ward 1 Councilmember
Jackie Reyes Yanes brings a powerful personal story and a deep commitment to serving the District. After coming to the U.S. from El Salvador, she built her life in Ward 1 and has dedicated her career to supporting local communities.
Through her work in District government under Mayors Adrian Fenty and Muriel Bowser, she has expanded access to legal services for immigrants and supported migrant families and Latino-owned small businesses.
She is focused on supporting small businesses, strengthening commercial corridors, revitalizing downtown DC, and working collaboratively with housing providers, tenants, and community leaders to support a healthy rental market and expand homeownership opportunities.
Matt Frumin for Ward 3 Councilmember
Matt Frumin has earned a reputation for showing up, listening closely, and following through. As Chair of the Human Services Committee, he has led efforts to strengthen programs such as the Emergency Rental Assistance Program and housing voucher system.
He focuses on increasing housing supply, fully funding homeownership programs, investing in neighborhood business corridors, and ensuring longtime homeowners can remain in their communities.
Zachary Parker for Ward 5 Councilmember
Zachary Parker has been a consistent and thoughtful voice on the DC Council, especially on issues affecting families, small businesses, and housing. As Chair of the Committee on Youth Affairs, he has overseen juvenile justice and child welfare systems.
He supports a healthy housing market and emphasizes clear, predictable systems for both residents and housing providers. He is focused on improving access to capital for small businesses and strengthening homeownership programs like the Home Purchase Assistance Program.
Charles Allen for Ward 6 Councilmember
Charles Allen has been a steady leader since joining the DC Council in 2015. His work balances housing growth with community needs, while also investing in transportation and recreation.
He supports policies that promote a stable and sustainable housing market and is focused on attracting new residents and businesses, expanding housing options, and strengthening homeownership programs.
Democrats United to Free DC for Democratic State Committee
This group represents experienced candidates committed to stability, effective governance, and economic growth in the District. The Democratic State Committee plays a key role in filling vacancies for at-large Councilmembers.
