Did you get a chance to digest everything that happened on Election Day? After what can only be described as a shocker of a Democratic Primary, we’re going to review what happened. Ready to get brought up to speed?

The political picture on the national stage came into focus with 2016’s penultimate Democratic Primary in the District of Columbia. And that picture shows a presumptive nominee for President in Hillary Clinton who ran away with nearly 80% of the vote. Some may say it was a predictable end, but nobody could have predicted the outcome for DC’s local officials.

Ward 4 Councilmember Brandon Todd will hold on to his position on the Council. However, Ward 7, 8 and an At-Large seat will see new faces. Former Mayor Vince Gray bested his former protege Yvette Alexander in Ward 7. Trayon White won a close race against LaRuby May in Ward 8. Most surprisingly, Robert White ousted At-Large Councilmember Vincent Orange.

For analysis, check out these pieces by the Washington Post and theWashington Times. Lastly, listen to the recap from the Kojo Nnamdi Show – Guest: Vince Gray | Guests: Trayon White, Robert White.
