What is the call for action?
Take a field trip with DCAR to the DC Council.
The Council’s Committee on Finance and Revenue will be holding a public hearing on the “First-Time Homebuyer Tax Benefit Amendment Act of 2015,” and we need you there.
This significant piece of legislation could lower the recordation tax for first-time DC Homebuyers from 1.45% to 0.725%.
Come out and support your Association and attend this public hearing!

What’s up with this bill?
DCAR’s advocacy efforts continue to make waves with the DC Government. Because REALTORS® like you spoke up, Council members David Grosso (I At-Large), Anita Bonds (D At-Large) and Jack Evans (D Ward 2) re-introduced the “First-Time Homebuyer Tax Benefit Amendment Act of 2015.” Other Council members who co-sponsored the bill include, Charles Allen (D Ward 6) and Yvette Alexander (D Ward 7).
Who qualifies?
Buyers must have never purchased a home in the District, and the property must be a primary owner-occupied residence. Basically, new home buyers in DC could be in for a huge win if this legislation passes.
What’s DCAR’s Position?
We are excited to make home ownership a reality for your clients and families who wish to establish firm roots in DC. Now we need the rest of the Council to jump on board!
Please register here for important details on where and when to meet on February 10.
We’ll bring free coffee and donuts!
