It’s Been One Week – And what a week it turned out to be for NAR’s Legislative Meetings and Trade Expo. We are giving you a week-in-review treatment so you can stay informed. We are giving a quick rundown on what happened at the federal, state and local levels. We’ll keep it short this week because there’s quite a bit to digest.
National
A huge week of advocacy brought professionals from across the nation to raise their voices and meet their legislators personally. Starting with Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward, the news veteran shared insights on the 2016 Election.
So much information was covered throughout the week, you can catch up on NAR’s official live blog. Highlights include:
Local
GCAAR, your Local Association, fought against a proposed Bill to raise the recordation tax for Montgomery County homeowners. They responded with sending over 100 GCAAR members to the legislative hearing at the Montgomery County Council Building. It was a great turnout, but the battle is far from over. Want to know how you can help?
Here’s how you can assist GCAAR. View and share their two Internet ads “No Fair” and “A Better Way” along with the interview with My MC Media. Our two thirty-second spots communicate GCAAR’s point. And you know how bad recordation taxes can get. Please feel free to share far and wide by email, text and social media.
State
It wasn’t all work and advocacy last week. DC showed a strong wave of support for JoAnne Poole, who competed in the NAR First Vice President Candidate Forum. We also found some time to show our members and regional leaders a fabulous time.
Following the forum, DCAR invited state members as well as Region 3 leadership to Lebanese Taverna in Northwest DC. Relive the fun through our photo album!
