2024 Board of Directors candidates

We are honored to announce the candidates for our 2024 DCAR Board of Directors! In compliance with Article IX, Section 1 of our District of Columbia Association of REALTORS® (DCAR) bylaws, the DCAR Nominating Committee has nominated the following individuals to offices on the 2024 board, as indicated, subject to their election by the membership.

The election is being held by electronic ballot; voting begins November 9 and ends November 29 at 11:59 p.m. Please review the list of nominees below.

Officers

President-elect: Samuel Medvene, Century 21 Redwood Realty

Sam Medvene is the founding member and acting CEO of both District Line Property Group and District Line Development, serving the D.C. Metro area. As a REALTOR® with Century 21 Redwood Realty, he specializes in residential real estate sales, investments and construction. He currently serves on the Executive Board for DCAR as secretary, has been an NAR national director for the past two years and has been serving on the local GCAAR Board for the past two years. He is passionate in serving his clients, community and industry.

Secretary: Harrison Beacher, Keller Williams Capital Properties

A native Washingtonian, Harrison Beacher is a managing partner of the Coalition Properties group, serving the D.C. metro area and affiliated with Keller Williams Capital Properties. Harrison served as the 2022 president for the Greater Capital Area Association of REALTORS® (GCAAR). In 2023, he also has been a co-vice chair for National Association of Realtors’ Meetings and Conference Committee.

Treasurer: Frederic Bates, LPT Realty LLC

Frederic Bates is a principal broker with lpt Realty in Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland. Fred was REALTOR® of the year in 2022 and the 2021 President of the District of Columbia Association of REALTORS® (DCAR). He chairs the National Association of REALTORS®’ Small States Forum.

Joachim (James) Braeu, Coldwell Banker Realty

James Braeu is an associate broker with Coldwell Banker Realty in Washington, D.C. He has been licensed in D.C., MD and VA since 2003. He spent seven years leading the vibrant Dupont-Logan office of Coldwell Banker. A 35-year D.C. resident, James regularly advocates for small business, real estate investment and affordable home ownership.

Elizabeth Burgess, Fairfax Realty Elite

Beth has served two years on the Public Policy Committee and has been with Fairfax Realty Elite over the last 13 years. As a licensed Associate Broker in MD with sales in D.C. and VA, she helps assist first-time homebuyers in building wealth to keep our city beautiful and supportive of its citizens.

April Contee*, EXQ Real Estate

April, owner/broker of EXQ, is a REALTOR®️ with 16 years’ experience. She serves on the DCAR Board of Directors, Bylaws Governance PAG and Public Policy Committee (various years). She was an at-large state political coordinator and is a member of the REALTORS®️ Political Action Committee and Major Investor and NAR Broker Engagement Council.

Virginia Gergoff, Keller Williams Capital Properties

Virginia is Keller Williams Capital Properties’ principal broker and team leader of the D.C. office. She has been a REALTOR® for 17 years, working with sellers, buyers, investors and developers. She also conducts many transactions with international clients and is fluent in Spanish. She has served on the (GCAAR?) Ethics, Professional Standards, (DCAR?) Public Policy and Global committees.

G. Anthony Graham, Academy of Real Estate

Anthony has served NAR, DCAR and GCAAR for 12 years. He’s served 2021-present on the GCAAR Grievance Committee; 2022 and 2023 as DCAR Board of Directors Public Policy Chair, leading initiatives securing $5,000 Fair Housing grant and $144,000 rent control grant; 2022 and 2023 NAR’s Housing Opportunity Committee and DCAR’s RPAC Participation Council representative, respectively.

Hillary Nash, RLAH Real Estate @properties

Driven by her deep love for the communities she lives in and serves, Hillary is an accomplished luxury real estate expert with RLAH @properties, with 19+ years of experience in residential and commercial real estate. She serves on the DCAR Board of Directors and as vice chair of the Public Policy Committee.

Bonnie Roberts-Burke*, RLAH Real Estate @properties

Bonnie has been active in DCAR, GCAAR and NAR for many years. She has long served on the DCAR Public Policy Committee, was DCAR President in 2014 and NAR Region 3 VP in 2021. Bonnie brings experience, perspective and enthusiasm to help keep DCAR as the strong voice of real estate in D.C.
