Frank Pietranton, Jr. Named 2010 DCAR REALTOR^® of the Year!

The District of Columbia Association of REALTORS^® (DCAR) is pleased to announce Frank Pietranton, Jr. as its 2010 REALTOR^® of the Year. Pietranton is a broker with Pier Associates Real Estate and Pier Associates Management, and has been licensed since 1976.

He is a current member of the DCAR Board of Directors and served as the organization's President in 1998. He was the first state president after the DC association spun off its local association to form the Greater Capital Area Association of REALTORS^® (GCAAR).

On the national level, Pietranton served on the National Association of REALTORS^® Board of Directors from 1995 - 2000, and has been on the Membership Policy and Board Jurisdiction Committee since 1995.

Locally, Pietranton has actively served on multiple REALTOR^® committees, among them: the Lockbox Task Force, Merger Task Force, Legal Forms, Action Alert, and the GCAAR Nominating Committee and Board of Directors. His leadership role has been demonstrated as chairman of several committees, including MLS Chairman, Sales Council Chairman, Strategic Planning Chairman, and MRIS Liaison. In that role, he chaired the Technology Committee tasked with choosing and implementing the first Local Association-Owned Regional MLS system.

An advocate for Washington, DC REALTORS^®, he lobbied relentlessly to allow for the installation and use of a Board-authorized common lockbox for licensed Association members - garnering the name "Mr. Lockbox." Pietranton has testified before the DC Council on rent control and lead paint legislation and met with various DC Councilmember's to further the Association's position on agency, buyer brokerage, tax rates, and DC statehood.

His community involvement includes 17 years of continuous service in the Stoddert Intramural Youth Soccer league, and as well as an active parent at Holy Trinity and Visitation Academy schools in Georgetown.
